NSF01 storage migration, attempt 3

OK, the next attempt is ready to go:

  • Starting this Friday, oct 23: all mixedtmp areas will be mounted read-only
  • Starting Monday, Oct 26, downtime for 3 days.
  • Wed Oct 28, system is back up, but mixedtmp is still being restored.

NSF01 downtime and storage upgrade (yet again) postponed

From Census:

The work on NSF01 will not be done this week. There is a problem on 3PAR’s
end, apparently. It turns out that they need to upgrade the frame, and
since we are not the only ones in the frame, they need to reschedule. At
least, this is the gist of it from my conversation with Leo.

We will, as usual, keep you posted.

Status of /mixedtmp/lehd3 on NSF01

September 16th, 2009

The problematic filesystem (/mixedtmp/lehd3) has been successfully backed up.
Until the downtime in October, the filesystem will be made read-only. Please
also avoid, to the extent possible, reading from this filesystem.

NSF01 next attempt at storage migration (updated)

After having resolved contractual maintenance issues, the next attempt to migrate the NSF01 storage from the older storage array to the newer (supported) array has been tentatively scheduled. [More »]

Success: NSF01 filesystem fully functional again.

As of 2009-07-16, 14:21, /temporary/saswork1 is back online as a 2.9 terabyte filesystem and is available for regular use.

NSF01 maintenance, next attempt

Maintenance of /temporary/saswork1 will continue today. Census IT are still
working to fully diagnose the problem. Work will continue this afternoon starting around 1pm.

NSF01 maintenance ongoing

… to repair /temporary/saswork1. Scheduled for 7PM. “During this maintenance window, the server will be available;” but the directory will obviously be offline.

Update: did not happen.

NSF01 temporary filesystems… temporarily unavailable

CSvD will complete work on restoring /temporary/saswork1 after last week’s disk failure. The filesystem will be unavailable for most of the day and should be back up and fully functional later this afternoon or by tomorrow morning. Successful completion will be notified to the NSF01 user mailing list.
