A workshop that will bring together university-based researchers, members of the international official statistical community, and other interested user communities is planned for July 31, 2009, the Friday before the 2009 Joint Statistical Meetings in Washington DC. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss and critique newly created public-use micro-data files that are based on the concepts of “synthetic data” and “partially synthetic data.”  The workshop will be held at the Census Bureau’s Headquarters in Suitland, MD. Graduate students are encouraged to apply. The 2008 Research Data Center Conference will be held October 13, 2008 at Duke University and is hosted by the Triangle RDC. Registration is free (with lunch included), but is required to attend. Deadline for proposals was August 1, 2008.

Graduate students are encouraged to apply. The 2008 Research Data Center Conference will be held October 13, 2008 at Duke University and is hosted by the Triangle RDC. SUBMISSIONS: Proposals for papers and posters should include an abstract of no more than 500 words, a brief CV, e-mail address, and telephone number. If the research has more than one author, please specify the contact author in the abstract. Submit proposal materials by e-mail to Gale Boyd, gale.boyd@duke.edu. The conference organizers will select abstracts for either a presentation or poster session. Graduate student presenters may apply for a travel stipend and should include a request for travel expenses with the submission of their proposal. Additional funding may be available to support travel by other presenters.

CAED invites submissions of extended abstracts and sessions for its 8th conference on research using enterprise micro data. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, reallocation, productivity, ICT, R&D, competition, transition, development, labor, adjustment costs, environment, corporate governance, trade, and linked employer-employee analysis. The conference will include keynotes, plenaries, and parallel and poster sessions.
It will be held at the Central European University (www.ceu.hu) in downtown Budapest. Registration deadline is April 1.

2008 North American Winter Meeting of the Econometric Society

The 2008 North American Winter Meeting of the Econometric Society will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana January 4-6, 2008, as part of the annual meeting of the Allied Social Science Associations. The program will consist of contributed and invited papers. It is hoped that the research presented will represent a broad spectrum of applied and theoretical economics and econometrics. The program committee will be chaired by Philip Haile of Yale University.

Prospective contributors are invited to submit titles and abstracts of their papers before April 28, 2007. All abstracts are required to be submitted electronically as plain text at the conference website: http://zeus.econ.umd.edu/conference/NAWM2008 .

At least one co-author must be a member of the Society or must join prior to submission. This can be done at www.econometricsociety.org.

Submitted abstracts should not be over 300 words in length. Each person may submit only one paper, or be a co-author on multiple submissions provided that if all such papers were accepted, no person would present more than one paper. Abstracts should represent original manuscripts not previously presented to any Econometric Society regional meeting or submitted to other professional organizations for presentation at these same meetings. The following information should also be provided electronically at the time of submission: the authors’ names, affiliations, complete addresses, telephone and fax numbers; both the email addresses and web sites (if any) of the submitters; the JEL primary field name and number; and the paper title.
