Security patch downtime for VirtualRDC servers

A short downtime will occur today on VirtualRDC servers to implement security patches. Sorry for the inconvenience.

R updated to 2.7.0 on x86_64 bit nodes

We’ve updated R to the latest 2.7.0 on the x86_64 nodes. ia64 nodes remain at their current state in order to remain in sync with NSF01.

VirtualRDC (including web) inaccessible July 15 and 16, 2008

The entire building housing the data center in which the VirtualRDC nodes are housed is being shut down for electrical maintenance on July 15, 2008 at 11PM (23:00), and turned back on again around 6AM (06:00) on July 16, 2008.

2008 Census Research Data Center Annual Conference

  • DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: August 1, 2008

The Triangle RDC, in behalf of the Census Research Data Center Program, welcomes proposals to present papers and posters based on current or recent projects carried out in a Research Data Center or using confidential Census Bureau data. Graduate students are encouraged to apply. The 2008 Research Data Center Conference will be held October 13, 2008 at Duke University and is hosted by the Triangle RDC. Registration is free (with lunch included), but is required to attend.

SUBMISSIONS: Proposals for papers and posters should include an abstract of no more than 500 words, a brief CV, e-mail address, and telephone number. If the research has more than one author, please specify the contact author in the abstract. Submit proposal materials by e-mail to Gale Boyd, gale.boyd@duke.edu. The conference organizers will select abstracts for either a presentation or poster session. Graduate student presenters may apply for a travel stipend and should include a request for travel expenses with the submission of their proposal. Additional funding may be available to support travel by other presenters.
