Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) Public Use files
These are public-use data files as published by the U.S. Census Bureau, Center for Economic Studies. These files are provided as a convenience for the community. No
support or guarantees are offered, but feedback is appreciated. Any questions regarding the data itself should be directed at the Center for Economic Studies.
The BDS data are compiled from the Longitudinal Business Database (Jarmin and Miranda 2002). The LBD is a longitudinal database of business establishments and firms covering the years since 1976, and is updated on a regular basis. As additional years of the LBD are available the BDS is also updated. For more details, consult the Center for Economic Studies or the local copy of the BDS Technical Note.
The most current data can be found in the current/ folder.
Other release directories are available
for archival purposes, but users should note that the entire (revised) time
series is released with every release. For information
on formats and compression, see this page.
